The Drama of Redemption: From Chaos to the Dawn of New Creation

The Rev. Charles R. Biggs, in conjunction with Providence Prep, is offering this survey course for adults and high school students, exploring the biblical theology of the Old Testament.

Moses, Prophets, and the Writings:

Everything Written about Jesus Christ!

Our Lord Jesus admonished His disciples because they had not read their Old Testaments as carefully as they should have:

O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets [Old Testament Bible] have spoken! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory? And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself . . . These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled. (Luke 24:25-27, 44).

Jesus teaches that He is the center or main character of all of the Old Testament. That all of the Old Testament is written about Him! Therefore, our study of the Old Testament will be broken down into these three main parts, or books: (1) Moses (Torah); (2) Prophets; (3) Psalms (Writings).

Goal

To know the Holy Scriptures better so that through this inspired, self-revelation of God we might know Him better as our Heavenly Father and Kind King in Jesus Christ, through the ministry of the Holy Spirit, to the glory of the Triune God, and for the good of His church and the world.
